An Englishman in New York

In one of the smaller rooms in the National Portrait Gallery's, Room 38a to be precise. Is a collection of photographic portraits by Jason Bell. All the work is tied together by the fact that the people are all of english heritage but now make their living/lives in the Big Apple. I liked the photographs but found what was said in the accompanying quotes more interesting. It's an interesting international relationship.

"I am torn between the appeal of that American hopefulenss and a kind of English realism" - Zoe Heller, Writer

There seems to be a definite love for New York by many of us Brits, me included. Especially with the whole NYLON bond, it feels like us Londoner's and New Yorker's are all from the same basket whilst being in awe of and respecting each other simultaneously.

I am hoping to get my ticket for summer break there soon. As long as the sales hold out till I have the money..
